Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai held a bilateral meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg on the sideline of the ongoing United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Wednesday.

During the meeting, they discussed matters related to bilateral interests and concerns including peace process, financial investment and hydropower potentials in Nepal, according to state-owned news agency RSS.

After the meeting, Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai said, ‘The Norwegian government has expressed commitment to provide Nepal with continued and enhanced cooperation by reviewing their previous development assistance.’

The Norwegian government is interested to increase further investment in exploring hydropower potentials of Nepal, he quoted Norwegian Prime Minister Stoltensberg as saying.

The Prime Minister further said he had apprised his Norwegian counterpart that there were no differences among the political parties on the economic agendas of the country except in political ones.

The Norwegian Prime Minister was accompanied by Minister for International Development of Norway, Heikki Holmas. nepalnews.com
