Corporate Premier League T20 Cricket kicks off; Everest, Agni win

The first Wai Wai Corporate Premier League T20 Cricket 2012 organised by Shangri-La Cricket Academy kicked off on Tuesday.

In the inaugural match played at Kirtipur TU Ground, Everest Challengers defeated Global Bank by 21 runs.

Electing to bat first, Everest scored total 143 runs losing five-wickets in 20 overs. Om Karmacharya contributed 45 runs while Narendra Chand and Rabin Thapaliya scored 42 runs and 31 runs, respectively.

Chasing the target, Global could score only 122 runs losing eight-wickets in 20 overs. Niroj Pandey scored 29 runs, Ganesh Pal 28 runs, Ranjan Thapa 21 runs and Bobby Mulami 11 runs.

Arun Chand and Rabin Thapaliya grabbed two-wickets each against Global while Chatur Chand and Narendra Chand took one-wicket each. Similarly, Sagar Bahadur Singh took three-wickets and Bobby Mulami took one wicket against Everest.

In another match of the day, Agni Air defeated Chaudhary Group by 42 runs played at the same venue.

Electing to bat first, Agni Air posted the target of 211 runs losing five-wickets in 20 overs as Gaurav Jain scored highest of 75 runs, Rahul Bansal 34 runs, Prajwol Shrestha 32 runs and Bikesh Tamang 14 runs.

While chasing the target, Chaudhary were restricted at 168 runs with the loss of seven-wickets in 20 overs as Rabindra Singh and Ram Rawal took two-wickets and Gaurav Jain grabbed one-wicket for Agni to defeat Chaudhary.

However, Shivaraj Tiwari grabbed four-wickets against Agni while Raj Joshi, Sushil Acharya, and Nabin Basnet took one-wicket each for Chaudhary.

On wednesday, Nepal Telecom will contest against Private Public Partner in the first match while You We Rangers and Max Media will compete against each other in the second match. nepalnews.com
