Normal life thrown out of gear in various districts of far west, mid west due to bandh

Normal life has been affected in various districts of far west and mid west regions due to the bandh (shutdown strike) called by separate groups.

Normal life is getting increasingly paralysed in far-western region as the bandh demanding "undivided far-west" entered the sixth day on Wednesday.

The bandh has led shortage of daily commodities in far western region as the marketplaces in the major towns in Kailali, Kanchanpur and other districts have been shut down and public transportation has completely come to a halt. Educational institutions have also been closed in the region.

Flights to Dhangadhi's Geta airport that were cancelled on Tuesday after the protesters locked the main gate of the airport, have not still resumed.

Backed by leaders of the major political parties from the region, various local organisations have jointly enforced the bandh to warn the political parties against dividing far-western region into multiple provinces while restructuring the state.

Meanwhile, Tharu community has also called bandh in Tharu-dominated districts on Wednesday demanding Tharuban autonomous state. The community enforced bandh in Kailai, Kanchanpur, Banke, Bardiya and Dang districts. Market places and educational institutes have been closed in the districts while vehicular movement has also come to standstill. nepalnews.com
