UML decides not to join government for now
Despite singing in the five point agreement to pave the way for Baburam Bhattarai led consensus government, the CPN-UML Sunday decided not to join the government for now. The Standing Committee meeting held at party headquarters in Balkhu took the decision to this effect.
The UML has took such decision saying that the ministerial portfolios were divided without consulting the UML.
The UML said that Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai appointed new ministers without holding proper consultation with UML on power sharing. The Standing Committee decided not to join the government until the PM agrees to review the recent appointments.
Earlier, Central Committee meeting had handed over responsibility to the Standing Committee to decide whether or not to join the government.
The UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and Madhesi alliance had singed a five point agreement on Thursday to form new government based on consensus by Saturday.
PM Bhattarai had appointed 11 ministers from the Maoist Party, Nepali Congress and Madhesi Front on Saturday. nepalnews.com
