ANNFSU enforces Chakkajam against police intervention

CPN (UML) affiliated student wing - All Nepal National Free Students' Union (ANNFSU) – imposed a Chakkajam (vehicle blockade) in front of Ratna Rajya (RR) Campus at Pradarshini Marg in the capital this morning.

Student activists of ANNFSU demonstrated in the middle of road chanting slogans against police intervention in their torch rally on Sunday night. Some 30 students were injured and few more were arrested in the ensuing scuffle between ANNFSU and police personnel yesterday.

The hour-long Chakkajam caused a massive traffic snarl in Putalisadak and surrounding areas during the 10 am rush hours.

ANNFSU had organised the rally yesterday demanding release of ANNFSU Secretariat Member Bijaya Budha, who was arrested in course of scuffle with rival Nepali Congress affiliated Nepal Students Union at Pashupati Campus in Chabahil on April 20.

Meanwhile, ANNFSU has warned it will be forced to launch a strong agitation if Budha and other students who were arrested yesterday were not released immediately and police high-handedness continues unabated. nepalnews.com
