Thirty injured in road mishaps in Lalitpur, Saptari
At least 30 people, including school-going minors, were injured in two separate accidents in Lalitpur and Saptari districts on Wednesday.
Around 24 people were hurt in a road mishap at Milan Chowk of Theliya-1 in Saptari district along the East-West Highway this morning.
The accident occurred when a bus (Na 1 Kha 5645) heading to Jhapa from Kathmandu collided with a tractor.
Some ten people who sustained serious injuries in the accident and were unconscious are receiving medical care at various hospitals in Biratnagar while the remaining are being treated at local health facilities.
Police have arrested the bus driver and impounded the bus and the tractor.
Meanwhile, half a dozen of children sustained injuries when a school bus (Ba 1 Kha 5510) overturned in Laliptur this morning. The bus was carrying over 40 students at the time of the incident and police believe the accident to have been caused due to negligence in the part of the driver.
However, most of the students managed to get away with just small bruises. They are currently receiving minor medical care at a hospital in Tika Bhairav.
Meanwhile, reports coming in say a Bhutanese refugee was killed in a bus accident at Sanishchare-1 of Morang district along the East-West Highway, this morning.
The bus (Ko 1 Kha 511) heading to east mowed down the pedestrian at around 8:30 am Wednesday, according to Area Police Office, Pathari.
Critically injured refugee breathed his last while he was being ferried to hospital for treatment. nepalnews.com
