Talks between govt and Bahun-Chhettri agitators inconclusive
Talks between the government and the representatives of Bahun, Chhettri and other groups that jointly organised nationwide general strike Thursday and Friday has ended inclusively.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with the government's talks team headed by Deputy Prime Minister Krishna Prasad Situala Friday evening, Kumar Khadka, the spokesperson of the struggle committee that is protesting against 'ethnicity-based' federalism, said the negotiations could not far enough after the government did not show seriousness towards their voices.
On the other hand, government talks coordinator Situala said the talks were 'positive'.
Normal life was badly hit across the country on Thursday and Friday due to the bandh called by the struggle committee of "Chhetri Samaj, Brahman Samaj, Thakuri Samaj, Dashnami Samaj, Dalit Janajagaran Sewa Sangh, Bibedh Mukti Pragatishil Samaj and Khas Chhetri Ekata Samaj".
With the failure of talks with the government, the protesting groups have announced one more day of bandh on Saturday. nepalnews.com
