Nepal bandh called off

The nationwide bandh called by a struggle committee of Brahman, Chhettri, Dalits, Thakuri and Dasnami communities to protest against "ethnicity based federalism" on Saturday has been withdrawn.

Spokesperson of the struggle committee Kumar Bahadur Thapa said the bandh was called off in view of the upcoming festivals of different ethnic communities.

The committee had decided to continue the bandh on Saturday as well after the failure of talks with the government Friday evening.

The bandh on Thursday and Friday paralysed normal life across the country, but no violence was reported. nepalnews.com
