During the meeting held at the UML parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar, the Indian ambassador is known to have suggested the UML leaders to send their party to the Baburam Bhattarai-led government in order to turn it into a national consensus government.
On their part, the UML leaders mentioned that the UML would consider joining the government provided the Prime Minister addressed the concerns raised by the party.
The Indian envoy and the UML leaders also weighed the possibility of an agreement between major parties on state restructuring, it is learnt.
Prasad had met Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala on Friday.
Sources say the Indian ambassador has been showing an active interest in the ongoing negotiations between the parties on the new constitution. Kantipur daily in a report few earlier revealed that Prasad was present in a meeting between the key leaders of the major parties which subsequently resulted in the signing of the five-point agreement. nepalnews.com |
