UCPN (Maoist) refutes media reports that PM wants CA term extension

UCPN (Maoist) has refuted media reports based on Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai's political advisor Devendra Paudel that the PM is in favour of extending the term of the Constituent Assembly (CA) if the constitution is not promulgated within the stipulated time.

Issuing a press statement this evening, Maoist spokesperson Dina Nath Sharma said that the Maoist party is seriously concerned over the media reports that said PM is engaged in an exercise to extend the CA term.

" Prime Minister and our party is engaged in the exercise to timely promulgate the new constitution by forging consensus among the parties," Sharma said,"We have not thought of any alternative to the timely promulgation of the constitution. So, we urge not to believe such reports."

Earlier today, PM's political advisor Paudel had said in an interaction that the PM is in favour of extending the CA term instead of dissolving it without promulgating the constitution. nepalnews.com
