CA members won't be barred from entering House during bandh: NEFIN

The Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) has said that Constituent Assembly members would not be barred from going to the CA during the bandh called by it.

"NEFIN's attention has been drawn to the statements of some responsible leaders of the political parties that the meetings of the legislature parliament and the CA could not take place due to the Nepal bandh," a statement issued by NEFIN president Raj Kumar Lekhi said, adding, "It has become clear in the past four years that the parties are trying to bring out the constitution from their pockets by deliberately trying to protract the process."

He further said, "NEFIN is ready to make arrangements to assist the 601 CA members to reach the CA for the meetings as well as their return. We would like to appeal to the agitating people to assist for this purpose. Our agitation is meant for ensuring the constitution, not derailing the drafting process."

Lekhi admitted that there were violent incidents in some places places along with attacks on the media vehicles and journalists, but claimed that they were done by 'vigilantes'. nepalnews.com
