Maoists, UDMF agree for voting in CA if parties fail to reach understanding on thorny issues
Key coalition partners—UCPN (Maoist) and the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) - have agreed to resolve the disputed issues seen in constitution drafting through voting in the Constituent Assembly (CA).
During a meeting held at Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s residence in Lazimpat this morning, the two sides agreed to resort to voting in the CA to settle thorny issues if the meeting between major political forces fail to settle the same today.
Emerging from the meeting, Raj Kishor Yadav, chairman of MJF-R, one of the key constituents of UDMF, confirmed that the Maoists and UDMF agreed to go for CA voting if the political parties don’t agree on one of the two proposals tabled by State Restructuring Commission (SRC) and thematic committee of the CA on federating the country. nepalnews.com
