NC formally pulls out of govt
The Nepali Congress has decided to pull out of the Maoist-led 'consensus' government, opposing the decision to extend the Constituent Assembly's tenure by three more months.
A meeting of the party's central working committee Thursday evening decided to quit the government. The party also demanded immediate resignation of Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai saying that he has lost moral ground to continue in his post after today's Supreme Court's stay order on the decision to extend the CA's term.
The NC had joined the Maoist-led government on May 6. The two ministers from the party, Krishna Prasad Situala (Duputy PM) and minister Suryaman Gurung, had announced their resignation earlier today. nepalnews.com |
