Maoist rival factions hold separate meetings; party establishment makes unity call to Baidya

Rival factions of the UCPN (Maoist) held separate meetings of their central leaders over recent political developments and intra-party differences on Thursday.

The meeting of central committee members loyal to chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal met at party headquarters in Parisdanda has called on the hardliner faction led by vice chairman Mohan Baidya to reach working unity despite ideological differences.

The meeting also discussed current political situation of the country and the role of the party.

Similarly, Baidya faction held the meeting at the office of Newa State Committee at Kupandol, Lalitpur. The hardliners concluded that the the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly was a failure of the party leadership and the policies adopted by it.

"Party leadership is responsible for the failure to promulgate new constitution and conclude the peace process," said politburo member Pampha Bhusal. She also demanded that party chairman Dahal apologise to the people for the failure.
