CPN-M enforces bandh in Ilam
The Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Maoist has called a bandh (shutdown strike) in Ilam district for an indefinite period from Wednesday in protest of detention of its cadres< RSS said.
The shutdown has been enforced in protest of arrest of the party's district secretary and another cadre, said district in-charge Kanchha Lawati. He accused the local administration of apprehending them on fake charges.
There is no vehicular movement on the long and short route to Jhapa and Panchthar due to the shutdown. The bandh has affected tourists visiting Ilam and people heading home to celebrate Tihar. Police had held the CPN-M cadres for torching the godown of Ganesh Himal Tea Factory at Shreeantu-4, Ilam, on October 16. nepalnews.com
