Oppn parties ask President not to approve budget
Leaders of the opposition parties met President Ram Baran Yadav at the latter's office, Shital Niwas, Thursday evening, asking him not to approve the budget being prepared by the government.
They also submitted a memorandum to the President, explaining their position regarding the budget. In the memo, they suggested the President not to approve the budget.
Earlier today, a meeting of the opposition parties held at the Nepali Congress central office, Sanepa, decided to ask the President to block the budget.
Their move comes at a time when the ruling coalition has vowed to present full budget for the remaining period of the fiscal year.
The opposition parties have been saying that the current government does not have authority to introduce the budget and that it must quit immediately to pave the way for formation of a national government that will present the budget and declare elections. nepalnews.com
