Inflation stands at 10.5 percent
The y-o-y inflation as measured by the consumer price index increased by 10.5 percent in mid-October 2012 as compared to 8.9 percent in the corresponding period of the previous year.
The figure was at 11.2 percent in mid-September and 11.9 percent in mid-August this fiscal year.
According to the NRB report, the index of food and beverage increased by 9.1 percent whereas non-food and services group increased by 11.8 percent during the review period while indices had increased by 9.6 percent and 8.2 percent respectively in the corresponding period of previous year.
Similarly, the price indices of housing and utilities increased to 12.6 percent during the review period while such index had increased to 5.2 percent in the corresponding period of the previous year.
Region-wise, the price indices increased to 11.1 percent in the Hills followed by 10.8 percent in Terai and 9.7 percent in Kathmandu Valley during the review period. The respective increments were 10.0 percent, 9.3 percent and 7.5 percent in the corresponding period of the previous year.
The wholesale price index also increased to 10.2 percent during the review period compared to a rise of 6.1 percent in the corresponding period of the previous year. nepalnews.com
