APF, Nepalgunj up for battle in Women’s T20 title

Armed Police Force (APF) and Region No.5 Nepalgunj are set to face each other in the final match of the ongoing Wai Wai Women’s National T20 Cricket Tournament on Wednesday.

APF defeated Region No. 3 Kathmandu by seven wickets while Nepalgunj defeated Region No. 6 Baitadi by 13 runs in their semi-finals matches to advance to final of the tournament played at Nagar Bikash Ground in Pokhara on Tuesday.

Electing to bat first, Kathmandu scored meager 50 runs losing eight wickets in 20 overs. Sonu Khadka and Neera Rajopadhaya grabbed two wickets each while Rubina Chettri took one wicket for APF.

Chasing the target, APF easily met the target in 11.1 overs with the loss of three wickets as Madhu Thapa and Sarita Magar scored 15 runs each while Neera Rajopadhaya contributed 14 runs.

Similarly, Nepalgunj posted a target of 73 runs for Baitadi losing five wickets as Laxmi Chaudhary contributed highest of 26 runs, Trishna Singh 12 runs and Manisha Rawal 10 runs.

While chasing the target, Baitadi were all out in 18.3 overs scoring 59 runs. Trishna Singh, Nary Thapa and Samjhana Sharma took two wickets each while Mamta Chaudhary and Samana Pun took one wicket each for Nepalgunj. nepalnews.com
