Nepal defeated the host United Arab Emirates (UAE) by four wickets in their opening match of the ACC Elite Trophy UAE 2012 that kicked off from Wednesday in UAE.
Nepal reached the target of 134 runs set by the UAE in 45.2 overs in the match played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, UAE. Nepal's Anil Kumar Mandal scored the innings highest 63 runs while Pradeep Airee contributed with 17 runs, Sharad Vesawkar 16 runs and Prithu Baskota 15 runs.
Nepal's bowlers shined again in their teams victory with Shakti Gauchan grabbing five wickets, Basanta Regmi taking three wickets while Paras Khadka, and Amrit Bhattarai took one wickets each to restrict the UAE to 133 runs in 40.5 overs.
Earlier, the UAE's Mohammad Azam had scored 33 runs, Khurram Khan 20 runs, Haroon Iftikhar 18 runs and Abdul Shakoor 15 runs while Rohan Mustafa and Arshad Ali scored 12 runs each. nepalnews.com |
