Govt offices in Kailali shut over Home Minister’s remarks
Students and youth activists have closed down all government offices in Kailali district protesting against, as what they say, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar’s remarks against ‘undivided Far West'. They have also prevented government vehicles from plying on the road in the district headquarters Dhangadi today.
Demanding that the Home Minister apologise for the remarks he made against the concept of undivided Far-West, Akhanda Sudur Paschim Ekata Samaj, Kailali, a group of student and youth activists supporting the undivided Far West campaign, enforced the shut-down of all government offices including Dhangadi municipality, district health office, revenue office and district development committee and also prevented government vehicles from plying on the road from 9 am today.
The Samaj said that they will announce stern protest programs if Gachchhadar didn’t renounce his remarks.
The student unions and youth organisations of various political parties have also expressed solidarity with the day-long shut down of government offices enforced by the Samaj.
On Wednesday, the irate demonstrators had chanted slogans against the Home Minister and also tried to vandalise MJF-Loktantrik office in Dhangadi. They also greeted him with black flags in different places of the district. nepalnews.com
