Bomb hoax at TIA disrupts int'l flights
International flights to and from the Tribhuvan International Airport came to a halt for around two hours Friday evening following a false bomb alert on an aircraft which was about to take off for Saudi Arabia.
The flights were brought to a halt after a TIA official received the call at around 8.30 pm from an unidentified number. Five planes were grounded for a search after the false call was received. Nepal Army and police personnel were deployed for inspection to Qatar Airways, Air Arabia, Gulf Air, Fly Dubai and Etihad Airways.
The flight resumed after no threat was realised, according to the TIA.
In September last year, air traffic was closed for half an hour due to the similar bomb hoax. nepalnews.com
