Gyanendra Malla guides Nepal to emphatic victory against Saudi Arabia
Nepal defeated Saudi Arabia by nine wickets in the ongoing ACC Elite Trophy UAE 2012 played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Sunday.
Nepal easily chased the target of 132 runs set by Saudi Arabia, scoring 133 runs in 13.1 overs as Gyanendra Malla scored an unbeaten 61 runs off 23 balls, which included a six and 13 fours (six fours in one over) while Subash Khakurel scored 35 runs and Anil Kumar Mandal hit 29 runs.
As Nepal chose to field after winning the toss, Saudi Arabia scored only 131 runs losing all their wickets in 48.2 overs. Paras Khadka and Basanta Regmi grabbed three wickets each while Shakti Gauchan and Bhuvan Karki took two wickets each.
For Saudi Arabia, Ifthakar Ali Mohammad Mohsin scored 27 runs, Mohammad Nadeem 19 runs and Nadeem Al-Nadwi 16 runs.
This is the second victory for Nepal as they have defeated the UAE in their opener. Nepal had lost against Kuwait on Saturday. nepalnews.com
