Denied Rs 20, minor kills self

A seven-year-old killed himself on Saturday in a village in Rukum after his mother did not give him 20 rupees to go to the cinema, The Himalayan Times reported.

Bhupendra Pariyar, who had threatened his mother that he would kill himself if his wish was not fulfilled, hanged himself in a room in his house in Aatibhiskot VDC.

“I was on my way to a nearby stream to wash clothes when Bhupendra asked me for 20 rupees. I only had 10 rupees, which I gave him,” said his mother Kalika, who upon returning found that her son was dead.

“Our son used to go to the theatre during holidays. This was the first time he could not go. No one had thought that he would take such a step,” Kalilka told the daily.

Lal Singh, the boy's father, said, “It never crossed our mind that would take such a step over such a minor matter.” nepalnews.com
