Khanal claims exit of Janajati leaders won't hurt party

CPN-UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal Monday said the "exit of some leaders" (read Janajati) from the party was sad, but it would not hurt the party.

Speaking to reporters in his home district Ilam, Khanal said he felt sad to be separated from colleagues who were in the party for four decades, but argued that the party's organisation was not at any significant loss because of their exit.

"Their exit has not caused any significant damage in the party. UML has remained unaffected," said he.

Meanwhile, the UML chairman said that a unity government under current Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai was simply impossible. "We are trying to bring the Maoists into confidence," Khanal said, "But, since they have shown totalitarian behaviour we cannot accept their leadership." nepalnews.com
