STC blamed for consumer rights violation
A complaint has been lodged against Salt Trading Corporation (STC) citing black marketing, financial embezzlement and consumer rights violation.
The study of the Forum for Protection of Consumer Rights-Nepal (FPCRN) unveiled that the sugar brought at the rate of around Rs. 55 per kg by the STC, was sold at Rs. 76 per kg in the local market. FPCRN also termed this against Black-marketing Act.
The FPCRN has filed three different complaints against the STC – at the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), the Metropolitan Police Range, Hanuman Dhoka and the Department of Commerce and Supply Management accusing violation of the Consumer Rights Protection Act.
According to the study of the forum, the public enterprises has been found buying the sugar at higher rate than the rates fixed by the domestic producers.
The forum also blamed that the STC increases the sugar price after it releases to the traders for commission matter. Nepalnews.com
