EC interacts with political parties
The Election Commission on Wednesday invited 16 political parties registered with the constitutional body to discuss poll-related issues.
The commission notified the parties about its plans to use electronic voting machines nationwide in the upcoming election, said the commission. Officials also informed political leaders that key positions in the commission will soon fall vacant, said Sarada Prasad Trital, spokesperson for the commission.
Leaders of the political parties urged the commission to make sure that the voting machines are reliable before putting them to use. The meeting comes as the Election Commission has been calling on parties to clear constitutional hurdles and formulate necessary laws to pave the way for election. nepalnews.com
