Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai Friday said that monarchy might be revived in the country if the current political deadlock is protracted due to the carelessness of the political parties towards resolving the political crisis facing the nation.

Laying the foundation stone of a building of Bishnu Kumari Campus in Bandipur-1 of Tanahu district, PM Bhattarai said the country would face a great disaster if the monarchy revived due to the differences among the political parties regarding the achievements made during four- year tenure of the Constituent Assembly (CA).

"The then king Mahendra imposed autocratic Panchayat system due to the failure to promulgate constitution on time in 2017 BS," he added, "The country will have to face a huge loss if similar situation is repeated."

He also urged the political parties to give up their stances for the sake of country.

"There is no alternative to the consensus. Whether we have to reinstate the CA or go for the fresh polls," he said. nepalnews.com
