In a television interview on Saturday, Khanal, however, said that UCPN (Maoist) chief Pushpa Kamal Dahal's habit of changing his stance time and again has made it difficult for his party and the Nepali Congress to buy what the Maoist leader says.
Dahal, who headed for Brussels yesterday, has been maintaining that resurrecting the dissolved constitution-making body was the best way to resolve the political deadlock.
Talking to Himalaya Television, Khanal held that the Maoist party had 'hijacked' a proposal made by Nepali Congress and UML in the past. The proposal to promulgate the constitution and go for fresh election for a Parliament, which would later decide on the issue of federalism, was ours, said the UML chief.
Khanal said leaders of major parties would continue talks during the festivities and were most likely to reach consensus on a government of national unity within mid-November. nepalnews.com
