Can't remain a bystander, says President

President Ram Baran Yadav has said that as the guardian of the constitution, he cannot remain a mere spectator to what is going on in the country.

Inaugurating a programme organised to mark the Chambers Day, the President indicated that he would not give his nod to any ordinance prepared by the government unilaterally.

"The government only wants to pass the budget. But I want to see vacant positions in constitutional bodies filled and a roadmap for the election prepared," said Yadav.

Yadav further said there was no alternative for the parties to forge consensus on the way forward. He expressed hope that the parties would reach a package deal on all contentious issues within a few days. nepalnews.com
