UML warns its ex-CA members against lobbying for CA revival
The CPN (UML) has warned its former Constituent Assembly members against speaking in favour of reinstatement of the dissolved assembly.
A meeting of the party's standing committee on Saturday decided not to allow the party's ex-CA members to engage in activities intended to resurrect the CA.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal said some former lawmakers were found lobbying for CA reinstatement and that the standing committee decided order them to stop.
Meanwhile, the party also decided to terminate the general memberships of leaders who announced their exit recently, opposing the party's stance against single identity-based federalism.
Those 'expelled' from the party include the then vice chairman Ashok Rai and central leaders Bijay Subba, Rakam Chemjong, Rizaban Ansari, Mangal Siddhi Manandhar, Bir Bahadur Lama and Ajambar Kangwang. The standing committee also decided to give party responsibilities to those who wanted to return. nepalnews.com |
