Massive blaze at CG Electronics factory

A massive fire broke out in the factory and warehouse of Chaudhary Group Electronics at Satungal in Kathmandu on Sunday, causing a huge loss of property. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries.

It took almost five hours to bring the inferno that started at around 5 pm at the CGE facility under control. A combined effort of all five fire engines of Kathmandu Valley managed to finally douse the fire after great difficulty. A special fire engine from the Tribhuvan International Airport was also involved in extinguishing the fire.

Some 50 security personnel from Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police helped the fire brigades to douse the fire. Locals actively participated in the efforts to douse to douse the fire as they feared that the blaze might spread into their settlement.

Although the cause of fire is still not clear, but police suspect that electronic short circuit at the factory warehouse caused the blaze. Large number of TVs, mobiles, refrigerators and other consumer electronics assembled in the factory and which cost millions of rupees were destroyed in the fire, it is learnt. Nepalnews.com
