Nepali Congress leaders took a potshot at Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai on Tuesday for his public statements on President Ram Baran Yadav.

"As a caretaker Prime Minister, Bhattarai cannot dictate what the President should or should not do," NC vice president Ram Chandra Poudel said while speaking at a media gathering organised by Nepal Press Union in Waling of Syangja. "He simply has no right to speak outrageously," he added.

He also made it clear that the NC was not in favor of reinstatement of the Constituent Assembly and that fresh elections were the only way forward.

NC general secretary Prakash Man Singh accused Prime Minister Bhattarai of "going all-out to defame the President".

"The President does have a right to make calls to the parties as a guardian of the constitution," he said at a programme in the capital. "Bhattarai is trying to defame the President after he could not do things according to his choice."

The NC leaders' comments coincided with a meeting between Prime Minister Bhattarai and President Yadav at Shital Niwas. At the meeting, the two agreed to clear the misunderstanding and differences.

Meanwhile, President Yadav has called an all-party meeting at Shital Niwas at 9 am Friday morning. The UCPN (M), NC, UML , Madhesi Front, CPN-Maoist and more than 20 other parties represented in the dissolved CA have been invited to the discussion that is being held two days after the four major parties missed the self-imposed deadline to find consensus. nepalnews.com
