Tamang says federalism based on multiple ethnic identities ‘best suited’
for country
Nepali Congress (NC) leader Bhim Bahadur Tamang on Tuesday voiced his serious concerns over single identity-based federalism in the country, asserting that a federal set up that reflects multiple ethnic identities is best suited for the country.
Speaking at a tea reception organised by Dolakhali Yuva club to exchange greetings on the occasion of Dashain festival in the capital, Tamang said the state has to be restructured based on multiple ethnic identities to keep the social, communal and ethnic harmony in the country intact.
He further said that leaders of major political parties should stop talking about reinstating the dissolved Constituent Assembly.
“There is no point reviving the Constituent Assembly that has already failed to deliver new constitution during its four year tenure,” Tamang said.
He said the revival of CA would not be able to resolve the problems facing the country and that the only alternative left for the parties is to go for fresh elections to the CA. Nepalnews.com
