Nepal Food Corporation (NFC), state owned enterprise, has set the price of the he-goats brought for the Dashain festival.
The corporation has set the prices of the he-goats at Rs. 304 per kg weighing below 25 kg and Rs. 314 per kg weighing above 25 kg. The NFC had sold the he-goats at Rs. 258 per kg weighing below 25 kg and Rs. 266 per kg weighing above 25 kg, last year.
The NFC has increased the prices of the goats by some 18 percent this year compared to last year. However, the state enterprise claimed that the price is reasonable than in the open market.
The corporation has started selling goats in the Kathmandu Valley with an aim to ease supply of meat in cheaper prices to the consumers during the festival from Tuesday.
The corporation has targeted to supply around 3,000 goats brought from various districts, in the valley. The NFC had supplied around 2,500 goats last year, according to the NFC. Nepalnews.com
