NC, UML to hit the streets after Dashain

The main opposition parties - Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) - Wednesday decided to launch joint protest against the Maoist-led government immediately after Dashain.

A meeting of the senior leaders of the NC and UML held in the evening also concluded that talks with the UCPN (Maoist) prior to the resignation of the government have become irrelevant and that they are left with no other choice than to resort to street protests to force the Prime Minister to step down.

The two parties also decided to stand firmly against the Maoist proposal to resurrect the dissolved Constituent Assembly, concluding that fresh CA elections were the only way out, UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal told media persons after the meeting.

According to him, decisions on election-related issues will be taken by a unity government to be formed after the resignation of Bhattarai cabinet. nepalnews.com
