12 hurt as NC cadres clash with police

At least 12 persons were injured in a clash between Nepali Congress activists and local police in Lahan, Siraha district, on Thursday, RSS reported.

The NC cadres, who have padlocked Lahan Municipality office, are demanding a probe into corruption allegations levelled against municipality chief Ram Kuman Mahato. They are also pressing the government to revoke the recently introduced integrated property tax.

The injured are receiving treatment at Lahan Hospital. Police said they had to baton-charge the protesters as they pelted stones at them. nepalnews.com
