CPN-Maoist cadres seize Himal Cement factory
Cadres of Mohan Baidya- led CPN-Maoist on Thursday announced seizure of the state-owned land in Chobhar of Kathmandu where factory of Himal Cement is located.
Cadres of the CPN-Maoist aligned All Nepal Revolutionary Trade Union Federation hoisted party's flag on the factory and announced seizure accusing the government authority of planning to sell expensive equipments of the factory at the 'price of salvage and scrap'.
Union chairman Ramdip Achary said they took the property into their control to 'protect' the public property.
He also said that they would set up camps of party volunteers if the government does not stop its plan to sell the property.
Established in 1975, Himal Cement was the first cement factory owned by the state which went out of operation in 2002 due to the disputes over environmental impact caused by the factory. nepalnews.com
