Maoist corruption probe panel misses deadline
A probe panel of the UCPN (Maoist) to look into the internal 'financial irregularities' failed to disclose its finding, on Friday, the deadline set by it.
The panel coordinator Amik Sherchan said they could not finalise the report as they needed more time to investigate the alleged corruption. According to him, the panel will publicise the report after Dashain festival.
The Maoist party had formed two separate panels to probe alleged financial irregularities in the party and the cantonments in July following pressure from party cadres.
The panel led by Sherchan was assigned to prepare report on the irregularities committed by the party leaders while another panel led by leader Posta Bahadur Bogati was mandated to investigate the alleged misuse of the funds released by the government for the former combatants.
According to Sherchan, the commission, which is mandated to investigate the properties of party leaders, has received a total of 65 complaints of which 20 were merely suggestions. nepalnews.com
