Hindus across Nepal observed Fulpati, the seventh day of Navaratri, on Sunday by worshipping Goddess Durga.

Fulpati filled with holy water, banana stalks, jamara and sugar cane tied with red cloth and an assortment of sacred shrubs that are offered to Goddess Durga was carried by Brahmans to the Dashain Ghar in Hanumandhoka Palace, Kathmandu.

Nepal Army (NA) also organised a special parade at Tudhikhel on the occasion of Fulpati.

President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, vice-president Parmanand Jha, Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai, heads of different constitutional bodies, ministers, senior government officials, and foreign diplomats attended the ceremony.

Nepal Army chief Gaurav Shumsher Rana and former army chief Chattra Man Singh Gurung also attended the ceremony.

Fulpati also marks the beginning of official week-long Dashain holidays in government offices. nepalnews.com
