Radio program brings problems of LGBT community to light
Pahichana, a daily radio programme by Ujyalo 90 Network, has been helpful in identifying the problems of homosexuals and transgender populations (also called LGBTs) and bring their issues to light in society, RSS reports.
While reviewing the radio programme production and airing, various speakers at a programme organised by Blue Diamond Society on Saturday informed that some 80 radio programme showcasing the problems and realities facing the homosexuals and transgender people have been so far transmitted through the Network.
It may be noted that members belonging to homosexuals and transgender community conduct an hour-long radio programme through Ujyalo Network every day.
Among the programme presenters from this community are Pinki Gurung, Bhumika Shrestha, Sushila Lama, Swastika, Bhakti Shah, Bishnu Adhikari and Durga Thapa.
Society Executive Director Sunil Babu Panta has also been presenting the programme 'Pahichan' from Nepal Television every Saturday.
He said that the programme was initiated to present the latent talent of the community of homosexuals and transgender and inform their status of rights and entitlements.
Network Board Member Manteswori Rajbhandari said the social outlook to this community has changed over the time.
