EU concerned over lack of progress in Nepal’s peace process
The European Union has expressed concern over the lack of progress in the ongoing peace process in Nepal and the existing political deadlock facing the country.
The visiting Head of the Office of the EU to Nepal, India and Bhutan Maria Castillo Fernandez conveyed the EU’s concern in her meeting with Nepali Congress vice-president Ram Chandra Paudel at the latter’s residence on Monday.
Fernandez, who arrived in Kathmandu on a weeklong visit on Saturday, also inquired about the possibility of fresh polls the political parties are currently holding discussion on.
In response, Paudel clarified that the peace process is about to reach a successful conclusion and that the parties are all set to forge understanding to pave the way for a new consensus government that will hold polls and ensure a new constitution. nepalnews.com
