Talking to the reporters on the occasion, the UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal said he was hopeful that the parties would reach an understanding to end the political impasse at the earliest.

He further said that the parties were likely to agree on fresh election of the Constituent Assembly (CA) instead of reviving the CA as most of the parties have stood for it.

"The only way out of the crisis is the fresh election. We have been holding discussions on the procedures to hold fresh election," he added.

Similarly, UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal claimed that he was hopeful of consensus within the next two days. "We are conducting discussion in a way that will lead to a consensus," said he.

On the occasion, Prime Minister and UCPN (Maoist) vice chairman Baburam Bhattarai reiterated that they would forge consensus to give outlet to the country at the earliest. "The government is not an obstacle to a consensus," said he.

The tea party was attended by the leaders of various political parities, high ranking government officials, foreign diplomats, businessmen, civil society leaders, artists, and journalists among other.

Bhattarai attended the function though he was invited as vice-chairman of the UCPN(M), not as the PM. nepalnews.com
