2nd Safal Pokhara Cup kicks off; APF defeat Friends in opener
Armed Police Force (APF) defeated NIBL Friends Club 4-3 in their opening match of the second Safal Pokhara Cup Football Tournament that kicked off in Pokhara on Tuesday.
Ganesh Lawati, Arjun Subba, Shyam Nepali and Arjun Subba scored a goal each for APF to secure victory while Jagjeet Shrestha scored two goals and Ritesh Malla netted a goal for Friends. With the win, APF also advanced into the quarter-finals.
Kaski District Football Association (KDFA) is hosting the second edition of the tournament. Altogether 12 teams are competing for the title including eight teams from Nepal, three foreign teams and the host team.
The winning team will bag Rs. 305,000 while the last year's prize money was Rs. 250,000. Similarly, the runner-up will receive Rs. 125,000.
Similarly, KDFA is also set to honour 'Kaski footballer of the year' with Rs 25,000 and a journalist contributing to the development of sports in the region with Rs. 15,000. Nepalnews.com
