10th Jazzmandu to open with showcase of local talent
Surya Nepal Jazzmandu 2012 will kick off on November 1st at Moksh, Jhamsikhel with Jazz for the New Generation, a band competition to encourage and acknowledge upcoming jazz musicians in Nepal.
The event continues Jazzmandu’s sustained efforts to promote local talent and to advance musical education among the public, stated a press statement issued by the organiser on Tuesday.
Four local bands – the KJC Trio, Kismat and Alvaro, Vairabi, and Con-fusion –will showcase their talents to a young audience including invited school students, and will be judged by a panel of international musicians. The event will also feature a judges’ jam as visiting Jazzmandu artists play together for the first time.
The outstanding band and outstanding artist selected by the judges will receive private lessons from a visiting Jazzmandu artist of their choice, and the outstanding band will also perform alongside visiting international bands at the Jazz Bazaar in Gokarna on November 3rd. Nepalnews.com
