NC officially decides to go for fresh CA polls
The main opposition party Nepali Congress has officially decided to go for fresh Constituent Assembly polls.
The NC Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting held at party headquarters in Sanepa on Wednesday took the decision to go for fresh CA election despite the objection from party's vice president Ram Chandra Poudel and senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba.
"The CWC decided to go for fresh election," CWC Member Arjun Narsingh K.C told Nepalnews. According to him, some leaders proposed to remain open for further discussion on the option of CA reinstatement. However, majority of CWC members endorsed the proposal to go for election closing the debate on the possibility of reviving the CA.
In the meeting, general secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula put forth the proposal to go for fresh polls.
The meeting also concluded that consensus government should be formed before starting the process for holding the election in the next seven months.
According to party spokesperson Dilendra Prasad Badu, some leaders including vice president Poudel, senior leader Deuba, CWC members Ram Sharan Mahat and Prakash Sharan Mahat stood for keeping the option of CA revival open. nepalnews.com
