Far-western locals welcome agreement for development of 750 MW West Seti Hydel

The signing of a revised memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Investment Board (IB) and CWE Investments, a subsidiary of China Three Gorges Corporation (CTGC), for the development of the 750-MW West Seti Hydro Power Project has brought cheers among people of far-western region.

According to reports, their happiness knows no bound as the agreement has cleared the decks for the development of the $2 billion (Rs 180 billion) projects, the biggest-ever hydropower project of Nepal.

It has sent a good message to people belonging to the affected area, where overall development program stalled for a long time, Tek Bahadur Saud of Belapur was quoted as saying by state-owned news agency RSS.

Locals said they are happy enough with the signing of agreement for the construction of big hydro power project in far-western region when the entire country is facing increasing power cuts. nepalnews.com
