Terai-based armed outfit hands over weapons to govt

Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM), a Terai-based armed group led by Bhagat Singh has handed over additional 66 sets of weapons to the government following signing of the four point deal in August.

The JTMM handed over the weapons including 63 sets of home-made pistol and guns to District Police Office Sunsari on Saturday.

JTMM spokesperson Manoj Kumar Mandal, alias Subas Chandra Singh handed over the weapons to Superintendent of Police Saurav Rana in the witness of Chief District Officer Lakshman Thapa, said District Police Office Sunsari.

On August 4, the government and the underground armed outfit had signed four point agreement. The group has already handed over 7 sets of pistols and a revolver to District Administration Office, Sunsari after the talks.

As per the agreement, the government will start the process of releasing the armed outfit's cadres from various jails and will also withdraw the cases filed against its cadres.

A team led by Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Top Bahadur Rayamajhi had held talks with the armed group's representatives on August 4. nepalnews.com
