Ban shoes bearing Buddha's image: UML

The CPN-UML has condemned an American shoe manufacturer for producing shoes bearing an image of Lord Buddha.

Organising a press meet in Kathmandu on Tuesday, UML Valley Coordination Committee also drew attention of concerned authorities to ban such shoes and take a stern action against the company saying that the company's commercial stunt was malicious as it hurt millions of Nepali people and Buddhist fraternity across the world by disrespecting philosophy of Lord Buddha.

Recently, California-based Icon Shoes had publicised shoes of various models bearing Buddha's image in social media and its website.

After facing wide spread flak in the US and across the globe, the American shoe manufacturing company has already removed photos of the shoes with Buddha images from its website.

A few week back, the Tibetan and the Buddhist community had outraged at the company for promoting a range of shoes with the Lord Buddha's images. Nepalnews.com
