ICC World Cricket Div 4: Nepal's winning streak continues; beat Malaysia by 10 wickets

Nepal secured its third consecutive victory after defeating host Malaysia by 10 wickets in the ongoing Pepsi ICC World Cricket League (WCL) Division 4 played at Selangor Turf Club, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Thursday.

Nepali bowlers’ strong performances restricted Malaysia to a lowly total of 69 runs in 32.1 overs.

Nepal’s ace bowler Shakti Gauchan shined as he took three wickets with eight maidens in 10 overs and conceded just 2 runs against Malaysian batsmen. Similarly, Basanta Regmi grabbed three wickets while Amrit Bhattarai took two wickets, Binod Das and Sanjam Regmi took one wicket each to restrict Malaysia to 69 runs in 32.1 overs.

Chasing the meagre target, Nepal scored 71 runs without losing any wickets in 12.2 over, with 226 balls remaining as Anil Kumar Mandal scored 41 runs, the highest of Nepal's innings, and Subash Khakurel scored 24 runs.

Earlier, Malaysia’s Mohammad Shafiq Sharif had scored 22 runs while Ahmed Faiz Mohammad Noor scored 13 runs and Hammad Ullah Khan 12 runs as one after another Malaysian batsmen fell victim to Nepali pace attack.

Now, Nepal will take on USA on September 7 at Kinrara Oval and Denmark on September 9 at Kinrara Oval. nepalnews.com
