Poverty alleviation state’s priority: PM Bhattarai
Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has said that the government has given high priority to poverty alleviation programmes.
Speaking at the first meeting of coordination board formed to oversee the distribution of ID cards by identifying poor on Thursday, PM Bhattarai directed the concerned officials involved in the programme to complete the ID cards distribution for the poor families within the slated timeframe.
Saying that ID cards distribution programme carries historical importance, PM Bhattarai assured to deploy all the state’s divisions in poverty alleviation campaign.
On the occasion, Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) vice-chairman Janak Raj Joshi, who is also leading the board, presented the working plan of the board regarding the distribution of ID cards.
As per the working plan, the board is set to distribute ID cards to the poor in three phases starting from September 17.
The board aims to complete the ID cards distribution programme in all the 75 districts in six months.
The board is set to complete distributing ID cards to poor in 25 districts within two months in the first phase. nepalnews.com
